From my Lautrec Jazz series. This painting combines Lautrec's imagery with my own depiction of Billie Holiday singing the evocative 'Strange Fruit' in the Café Society nightclub. The spirit of Lautrec is within the scene to emphasise his love for the rebellious and outrageous and he would have definitely aligned with the nightclub's slogan of The Right Place for the Wrong People.
