From the Lautrec Jazz series. Lautrec's use of the split coloured background seemed very appropriate for this portrait of John Coltrane. I have portrayed Coltrane emerging out of the dark to represent his battle with the dark forces of drug addiction and his reinvention as a top Jazz artist.
